Optional Activity: Saturday night enjoy a locally produced and directed performance put on by the Wishbone Theatre called “Luckyville”. Ticket price is not included in the package but students of the Improv Workshop receive discounted tickets.

This has all the potential of a life changing experience. Perhaps you have always hoped for your “chance in the spot light” or you would like to increase your personal confidence, or you need a creative buzz, or you need to enhance your acting skills, or you are an Improv Enthusiast, or you love to laugh, or you need a good laugh or……………………. COURSES INCLUDED

Historical Valemount Tour– start your weekend off getting to know the local history and perhaps gathering a little inspiration for your workshop.

Improv Workshop– Spend a whirlwind 3 days laughing, learning, and improving your improv acting.

Performance– Use your new acting skills in a relaxed environment. Venue is local approved!

ON THE SCHEDULE

HISTORICAL TOUR OF VALEMOUNT (3 HOURS)

Join instructor Art Carson on a informative tour around the town of Valemount. Relax as you are escorted from location to location by our skilled driver. Art is a wealth of information and will keep you on the edge of your seat with local history.

IMPROV WORKSHOP (12 HOURS/3 DAYS)

Some people possess the natural ability to Improv but it is also an art that can be learned. This course will cover the basics as well as enhance the skills of those who already perform the art of Improv. It promises to be a thrilling experience for all. Students will not only learn but have performance opportunities at local venues during the course!

EVENING PERFORMANCE (1 HOUR)

The weekend of improv classes will have you feeling comfortable and prepared for your performance on the Saturday evening at a well established local venue. Feel confident going on stage in a relaxed environment.

Historical Tour 

If you want to know almost anything about the history of this town, Art should be your go-to. Having lived and adventured in this area for numbers of years, he is a wealth of information and a true mountain man.

Improv Teacher

Jeff has performed, directed and instructed Improv and theatre for over 40 years. He worked with the Citadel Theatre, Fringe Theatre, Rosebud Theatre of the Arts, Polaris Theatre and Fresh Theatre. His Improv Theatre troupes have performed in Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA. As a university professor, he instructed at Mount Royal University & Ambrose University College. Warning: His enthusiasm is contagious.

PAUL JOHNSON

Bus Driver

Every great journey needs a skilled driver. Paul has had lots of experience navigating a bus around the village of Valemount and you can feel completely safe while he escorts you from site to site during the historical tour.

ACCOMMODATION:

Packages with accommodation are available. The nights of accommodation are Thursday, April 27; Friday April 28th; and Saturday April 29th. Accommodation is provided by the Best Western Inn and Suites . 

EQUIPMENT:

Food: Students will be responsible for their own food over the course of the weekend. Lunch breaks are one hour long. The downstairs of the venue features a restaurant that serves both Breakfast and Dinner. Cafe’s and restaurants that offer lunch are a short drive away.
Clothing: It can still be cool at the end of April. We recommend students bring the following for the Historical Tour:

  • warm jacket
  • comfortable walking shoes
Other: For the Historical Tour:

  • camera or device that takes photos

For the Improv workshop please bring the following:

  • hat
  • unique small object
  • notebook and pen
  • waterbottle

REQUIREMENTS:

Students must be over the age of 16 years old at the time of the course. Participants between the ages of 16 & 18 require parental consent.

Full payment is required at the time of enrollment to hold your seat as courses fill up quickly and space is limited to 20 students.
